How I Got Here..

As a kid, growing up in the late 60's , my parents always took us up to Cape Cod, where my great grandmother and great aunt had an antique store. I would roam the aisles full of treasures and was often allowed to pick out a small trinket, many of which I still have.

It was in our blood. My folks would take us antiquing all through our younger years, collecting mahogany and cherrywood furniture or small horse brasses. Their motto was "items from the 1800's and early 1900's were better made than the item one could buy today". They chose well.

I love owning a piece of history. I find it fascinating to learn and understand how our culture has grown and changed. What and why we prize possessions: the craftsmanship and beauty of old things fascinate me. I began focusing on findings like beads, stampings, and cabochons, because I can hoard them :-) They will never go out of fashion and their smallness reminds me of the little things I received from my great aunt and great grandmother.

I am retiring as the general manager at Scenic Art Studios. We paint most of the backdrops and hard scenery for Broadway. I grew up as a painter, went to college and grad school in drawing and painting on scholarships and fellowships and found my way to the theater district as an artist. It has been a joyful ride.
